Reminds me of another time someone messed with tradition not too long ago...
Adam Lambert on American Idol earlier this year singing Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" with a Middle Eastern flair!
I loved it...but first, I was completely caught off guard and had to make a decision about how I felt about it...all by itself...not in relation to my unrealized preconceived ideas about the limits of how that familiar song could be altered and still be pleasing.
He was great! It was great! And, I had so much appreciation for the creativity and talent and uniqueness of Adam Lambert!!! You go, guy!
